This is barely a recipe.
Which, honestly, is exactly why I like it.
These chicken sandwiches were part of prep day this week because I wanted something in the refrigerator that we could pull out and turn into a meal without me actually having to cook a whole meal again.
The chicken gets cooked ahead of time, the bread is easy, and when somebody wants a sandwich later in the week, everybody can pretty much make their own.

That’s my kind of dinner.
What You’ll Need
For the Chicken
– Chicken tenderloins
– Garlic powder
– Onion powder
– Salt
– Kinder’s Woodfired Garlic seasoning
– Kinder’s Grilled Chicken seasoning
For the Sandwiches
– Hoagie rolls
– Your favorite cheese
– Whatever toppings your family likes
– Your favorite sandwich sauce
That’s it.
I used the frozen hoagie dough from Sam’s Club for our bread. It stays in the freezer until I need it, which makes it perfect for something like this.
You absolutely do not have to do that.
Buy hoagie rolls from the store. I’m not coming to your house to check.
Make the Chicken
I started with chicken tenderloins and diced them into smaller, bite-sized pieces.
Then I seasoned them with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, Kinder’s Woodfired Garlic seasoning, and Kinder’s Grilled Chicken seasoning.
There aren’t exact measurements here because I didn’t measure them.
Season your chicken.
That’s the measurement.
Spread the chicken out on a baking sheet and bake it until it’s completely cooked through.
Once it’s done, you can either make your sandwiches immediately or let the chicken cool and put it in the refrigerator for later.
Since this was prep day, mine went into the refrigerator.
About the Hoagies
For the bread, I pulled some of the frozen Sam’s Club hoagie dough out and let it proof.
And let me tell you, those things RISE.

By the time they were ready, I had giant pieces of bread dough taking over every available surface in my kitchen.
Follow the package directions for proofing and baking yours since the timing is going to depend on the dough you’re using.
Or, again, buy the bread already baked.
Dinner will survive.
Put It Together
When you’re ready to eat, warm up the chicken and grab a hoagie.
From there, do whatever you want.
Add cheese. Add lettuce. Add tomato. Add onions. Toast the whole sandwich. Don’t toast it. Add whatever sauce you like.
Everybody in my house can make theirs differently, which means I don’t have to make four versions of dinner.
That’s a win.
And that’s really the entire recipe.
Chicken.
Bread.
Toppings.
Dinner.
Sometimes the easiest things are the ones that save me the most during the week, and that’s exactly why these made it onto prep day.
