I took the boys outside to burn off the last little bit of energy before nap time.
I figured I’d get a walk in while they jumped on the trampoline.
A few minutes later, I looked over.
They had two lawn chairs…
On the trampoline.
Naturally.
Apparently, the game was to sit in the lawn chair while somebody else bounced the trampoline or tried to push you out of it.
The toddler was laughing hysterically.
The five-year-old was laughing because the toddler was laughing.
And the six-year-old had somehow become the official entertainment director. Being the oldest, I’m pretty sure he was enjoying every second of it.
It made me stop and wonder…
Who thinks to put lawn chairs on a trampoline?
Because I can honestly say that idea has never crossed my mind.
Then again…
That’s probably why childhood is so much fun.
Kids don’t see lawn chairs.
They see an entirely new game.
Somehow, they can look at ordinary things and imagine possibilities that never would’ve crossed my mind.
Sometimes I wish I still thought like that.
Then again…
I’d probably use those thoughts irresponsibly.
So maybe it’s best that I just watch from a distance.
